Microsoft confirmed in an announcement that there will two new Office versions scheduled for release this year: Microsoft Office LTSC, an enterprise version, and Microsoft Office 2021 for consumers which will be available for both Windows and macOS.
Office 2021, which is set to replace Office 2019 is designed for users who do not intend to pay for an Office365 subscription—it will require a one-time purchase for access to the Office applications like Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, and other productivity applications that come with the package.
The enterprise variant, Office LTSC (Long-Term Servicing Channel) will come with dark mode support, and some accessibility improvements according to The Verge.
Though both Office 2021 and Office LTSC will officially be released later this year, Microsoft has plans to release a preview of Office LTSC in April. The new variants will also be available on macOS and Windows (64-bit 32-bit) versions.
As of now, there is no clarity on the pricing and new features coming with these two packages but all we know for now is that Microsoft has promised five-year support for these new Office releases.
