At this point, it is well known that Samsung uses two different
processors in their devices which are the Exynos made by Samsung themselves and Snapdragon made by Qualcomm. This
would not have been a problem if these two processors performed on par with
each other but that is not the case as Exynos has shown over the years to be
inferior to its Snapdragon counterpart. This has generated a lot of unrest
amongst users who live in regions where the Exynos variants are sold as they
feel ‘cheated’ having to pay the same amount of money for an inferior device.
Samsung was aware of this and apparently has been
working to improve its Exynos
processors in order to make it better or bring it on par to that of the Snapdragon. But if the alleged Geekbench score which has been leaked is
anything to go by, then it seems the Exynos will pulling ahead next year. The
leaked benchmark shows that the Exynos performs better than the Snapdragon in
both single and multi-core performance. This is a significant achievement seeing
as the Exynos was ‘solidly’ behind just a year ago.

Samsung could have achieved this by swapping out their
custom mongoose core which was the main reason the Exynos was behind, for the
ARM’ Cortex-X1 super core which has given it the boost it needs. These scores
should be taken with a pinch of salt since they could turn out to be wrong. If
they are right though, then it means the Exynos 1000 could be one of the very few
chips to trade blow with Apple’s own chips. With the A14 Bionic unveiling around the corner, it will be interesting to see how these two stack up to each other.
