press conference at CES 2020 this morning was all about their TVs

The company already revealed a slew of "Real 8K" luxury TVs alongside the rollable 4K OLED TV which has been confirmed to go on sale this year. The TVs were available on the demo site but the difference between the 8K and 4K was hard to tell in terms of the quality. LG claims the reason for that was because the 4K TV has pixel density “comparable to that of a 96-inch 8K TV,”.

For picture quality refinements in 2020, LG is introducing a new Filmmaker Mode that “delivers images the way they intended.” LG says that Filmmaker Mode turns off a variety of post-processing effects – motion smoothing, sharpening, and noise reduction specifically – so that viewers can watch films in a way that does justice to “the original vision of the director.
LG is also building active-listening microphones directly into some of its most premium 2020 TVs with a new custom voice command which is triggered by the "Hi LG" phrase -- expected to work with Alexa, Siri (AirPlay 2) and Google assistant. For sports fans, LG has implemented a Sports Alert feature that allows users to select their favourite teams across a variety of sports and receive updates on their TV whenever games begin, their team scores, or games end.
